Breakfast Briefing with Gordon Roy

Date: 24 November
Time: 7:55am – 8:55am

The continued frequency and harshness of extreme weather-related events—from Record-breaking snowfall in Madrid, Flooding in West Germany and Storm Christoph here in the UK – have shone a brighter spotlight on insurance risk and climate change.

Now, with climate change risk very quickly moving its way up the agenda in recent years, the insurance industry faces the challenge of addressing the escalating climate change risks right here in the City of London.

With this in mind, please join us for a special London One Hundred breakfast briefing to hear from Gordon Roy, District Surveyor and Environmental Resilience Director for the City of London Corporation.

Gordon is a key player in the implementation of climate resilience in the Square Mile through the City’s Climate Action Strategy. He is overseeing several Climate Resilience initiatives including a pioneering Riverside Strategy to prepare the City for sea-level rise and a series of pilot projects that will test resilience measures in the City’s public realm.

Attendees can expect an insightful look into the risks due to climate change and have the opportunity to ask questions and gain answers to the following questions:

What do we mean by climate change?
Why is climate change insurance risk intensifying?
What practical steps can I, and the business I work for, take to be good corporate citizens?
How are other sectors preparing, and how does their approach differ?
