We’re excited to announce the Insurance Insider Latin America Honors, which celebrate the outstanding achievements and talent of the Latin America insurance and reinsurance markets.

 

Formerly the Reactions Latin America Awards, the Insurance Insider Latin America Honors recognizes the exceptional work of insurance and reinsurance leaders in LatAm in 2020.

 

Our panel of internationally recognized judges, including many of the top executives both past and present representing the Latin America re/insurance market, will help determine which companies and individuals will be honored in a variety of categories. Join us for this evening of entertainment, celebration and well-deserved recognition.

Insurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Awarded to the standout insurer of 2020, this honor will recognize a company with a strong financial performance and proven, well-known commitment to clients. Key criteria will include excellence in service – responding quickly to insureds, addressing customer needs – as well as in crafting coverage solutions that help to deepen insurance penetration in the regions in which it does business. 

Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria:  Awarded to the standout reinsurer of 2020, the judges will be looking for a company with a strong financial performance and proven, well-known commitment to its insurer clients. Key criteria will include excellence in service – responding quickly to insureds, addressing customer needs – as well as crafting coverage solutions that help insurers broaden their reach throughout in Latin America.

Insurance Brokerage of the Year

Entry criteria: This honor recognizes the insurance broking organization that stood above its peers in 2020. Key criteria will include how the brokerage helped to support clients during what was an extremely difficult year, providing valued advice in an ever-evolving insurance market amid much uncertainty. Companies must demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth. 

Treaty Reinsurance Brokerage of the Year

Entry criteria: Separate awards will be bestowed upon both the top treaty and facultative reinsurance brokers, recognizing the organizations that stood above their peers in 2020. For the Treaty-based category, the judges will be looking for firms that provided market-leading levels of support and guidance to clients covering a wide variety of risks in Latin America. Companies must demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth. 

Facultative Reinsurance Brokerage of the Year

Entry criteria: Separate awards will be bestowed upon both the top treaty and facultative reinsurance brokers, recognizing the organizations that stood above their peers in 2020. For the Facultative-based category, the judges will be looking for firms that provided market-leading levels of support and guidance to clients and leadership in crafting highly customized reinsurance solutions essential to doing business in Latin America. Companies must demonstrate excellence in a number of ways, including financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth. 

Catastrophe Modeling Firm of the Year

Entry criteria: This award recognizes the work of a catastrophe risk-modeling firm that excelled in 2020. Entrants may demonstrate this excellence in a number of ways, including precision and accuracy of the models developed, client service levels, and/or successful innovations in the science of cat risk modeling. 

Loss Adjustment Firm of the Year

Entry criteria: Judges will consider which loss adjuster provided the Latin American market with above-and-beyond service in 2020. Among the criteria considered will be the speed and effectiveness with which the firm operates, with several examples provided that illustrate top performance in this area and commitment to clients following key loss events by the insured.

M&A Transaction of the Year

Entry criteria: This award recognizes the merger or acquisition completed in 2020 that the judges believe has had the most economic and strategic impact on the Latin America re/insurance market that produced a value-adding proposition for both parties. As well as the deal economics and rationale, judges will be looking at how any cultural issues were dealt with as well as how successfully the companies have progressed post-transaction. The honor is open to buyers and sellers of insurers, reinsurers and brokerages.

Insurance CEO of the Year

Entry criteria: To be awarded to a CEO who led a successful and highly regarded primary-side insurer in Latin America during calendar year 2020. This individual will exhibit strong leadership skills and decision-making that has inspired positive underwriting results, improved financial performance, business growth and a competitive combined ratio. 

Reinsurance CEO of the Year  

Entry criteria: To be awarded to a CEO who led a successful and highly regarded reinsurer in Latin America during calendar year 2020. This individual exhibits strong leadership skills and decision-making that has inspired positive underwriting results, improved financial performance, business growth and exceptional service to its insurer clients. 

Insurance Broking CEO of the Year 

Entry criteria: To be awarded to an insurance brokerage CEO in Latin America who inspired excellence across their company in calendar year 2020. This individual will have exhibited strong leadership skills and decision-making that has been at the heart of the brokerage’s improved performance. The company’s financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth will all be considered.

Reinsurance Broking CEO of the Year

Entry criteria: To be awarded to a reinsurance broking CEO in Latin America who inspired excellence across their company in calendar year 2020. This individual will have exhibited strong leadership skills and decision-making that has been at the heart of the brokerage’s improved performance. The company’s financial results, client-retention levels, and business growth will all be considered.

Andean Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Which reinsurer providing coverage in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru or Bolivia impressed you the most in the last year? Which reinsurer put in a strong financial performance? Which company responded best to clients’ needs? Which company provided capacity in crucial regions and/or lines of business, and in doing so helped to deepen insurance penetration in this market?

Brazil Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Which reinsurer offering protection to Brazilian insurers impressed you the most in the last year? Which reinsurer put in a strong financial performance? Which company responded best to clients’ needs? Which company provided capacity in crucial areas and/or lines of business, and in doing so helped to deepen insurance penetration in this market?

Southern Cone Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Which reinsurer operating in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay or Uruguay impressed you the most in the last year? Which reinsurer put in a strong financial performance? Which company responded best to clients’ needs? Which company provided capacity in crucial regions and/or lines of business, and in doing so helped to deepen insurance penetration in this market?

Caribbean Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Which reinsurer operating in the Caribbean impressed you the most in the last year? Which reinsurer put in a strong financial performance? Which company responded best to clients’ needs? Which company provided capacity in crucial areas and/or lines of business, and in doing so helped to deepen insurance penetration in this market?

Mexico Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Which reinsurer operating in Mexico impressed you the most in the last year? Which reinsurer put in a strong financial performance? Which company responded best to clients’ needs? Which company provided capacity in crucial areas and/or lines of business, and in doing so helped to deepen insurance penetration in this market?

Central America Reinsurer of the Year

Entry criteria: Which reinsurer operating in Central America impressed you the most in the last year? Which reinsurer put in a strong financial performance?
